On Monday, I got a call from 434 number, a guy who identified himself as a deputy sheriff from the county sheriff's department (Southern accent, but sounded more like Tennessee). He told me he was following up on a bench warrant on me for ignoring a subpoena issued to me to appear at a grand jury hearing in the federal courthouse in April. I was out of the country on the date in question and told him so. He went through various information and then emailed me a copy of the summons and stayed on the line to discuss. I opened it. That's when the red flags started popping up; the fonts were wonky, the judge's name was on Google, but not the officer's name, there were various fines and penalties. He told me he was going to transfer me to his partner to reconcile the matter. I hung up, called the folks who do my computer servicing (PJ Networks) and shut off my computer and rebooted. I ran Malwarebytes free scan and was done with it. This isn't a simple phishing scam. It's a two-part social engineering/phishing scam with a call and an email. Be careful out there!

Does anyone have experience with the automatic "Maintenance Required" dash light that comes on every 5,000 miles in a Toyota? If so, is this something that can only be done at a Toyota dealership's service center, or can it be reset by other qualified mechanics? After reading the recent post about Flow Toyota and the upsell of "required" services, I am extra cautious about continuing with servicing with Flow. I bought the Camry hybrid brand new when it was Brown, have gone through the 5,000 required servicing, but since Flow purchased the dealership, it seems that there's a lot more suggestions for additional servicing. I welcome recommendations for trustworthy, competent and reasonably priced options.
