Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard from City of Alpharetta · 11 hr ago
Photo from Assistant City Administrator James D.

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is accepting public comment for a proposed update of the region’s Transportation Improvement Program, or TIP, which programs federal and state funding for transportation projects across metro Atlanta. Additional information about the TIP is available at https://bit.ly/3fZ3ksB

The update includes an additional $10.7 million to fund 17 Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) projects across the region. LCI is a grant program that assists local jurisdictions in transforming their communities into more vibrant, walkable places that offer increased mobility options and support community health and economic opportunity (additional information at https://bit.ly/3GZiiL4). Changes to other projects submitted by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will also be a part of this amendment to the TIP.

ARC’s Transportation and Air Quality Committee (TAQC) and the ARC Board will take action on this TIP Amendment in March following the public review and comment period, which ends on Friday, February 11. You can submit public comments to transportation@atlantaregional.org.

A virtual public hearing will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 10:30 AM. Requests to speak at this public hearing (https://bit.ly/3G2DL4B) will be accepted until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, February 8 and must be sent to transportation@atlantaregional.org.

Alpharetta Recycling Collection Delays - January 25, 2022

Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard from City of Alpharetta · 1 day ago
Photo from Assistant City Administrator James D.

Republic Services has advised of two issues related to recycling collection today.

1. Glass Recycling: Republic was unable to complete all scheduled glass recycling collections yesterday and began the day today attempting to collect at those locations before beginning collections on residences scheduled for today. They advise that they are running one day behind on glass recycling collection and ask that customers leave their glass recycling bins at curbside for late collection.

2. Other Recycling: Due to drivers being out due to illness, today's standard recycling collection is short-staffed and will be running later than usual. Republic Services anticipates completing all scheduled non-glass recycling collections today, some collections will occur later in the day than usual.

If you do not receive residential waste or recycling service on your normally scheduled service day, please leave your carts and glass recycling container at curbside through the next day. When Republic experiences service delays, the standard operating procedure is for them to service those addresses the following day.

If service is not provided that next day, please notify the City by completing and submitting the electronic form available at https://bit.ly/3H1QuG5. When you send the resulting online form, it goes directly to a member of the City of Alpharetta staff as well as to Republic Services, and you will help us to more quickly resolve problems, track issues, and hold our vendor accountable.

If you do not receive a response within 24 hours of submitting the form, please contact the City at 678-297-6060 (option 0).

UPDATE: Trash/Recycling Service 1-Day Delay Week Of January 17

Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard from City of Alpharetta · 19 Jan
Photo from Assistant City Administrator James D.

Consistent with previous communications this week, Republic Services is operating on a 1-day delay throughout this week due to service having been suspended on Monday because of the winter weather emergency issued by the State of Georgia. This means that residences normally serviced on Tuesday are being serviced today, those normally serviced on Wednesdays will be serviced Thursday, etc.

We are, however, aware that there have been instances this week in which Republic has serviced a few neighborhoods on their normal service day instead of following the 1-day delay schedule. This was done in error and should not have occurred.

Please be assured that if this occurred in your neighborhood, Republic Services will return to the neighborhood the following day per the 1-day delay schedule they are supposed to be operating on this week.

On behalf of our vendor, we apologize for the confusion that has resulted from this situation.

Time To Stay Off Area Roads

The surface temperature of area roads and bridges is now at or below freezing. While our crews have been out treating roadways all morning, icy conditions can still form quickly; especially on bridges. Please avoid driving unless absolutely necessary. If you must drive, please drive slowly, leave plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles, avoid fast braking, and stay very focused on the road and your driving.
